The Do It Yourself Data Presentation

Illlustration of a person pointing to a presentation slide.

For your next staff meeting or grade level meeting, try these slides.

You don't have to be a data expert to use this. Your goal isn't giving expert advice. It's creating a safe place for people to practice.

Review these slides ahead of your presentation. Then use them to guide your staff through the activity.

Download the Make Data Practical in Three Steps slide deck.

Use the Guide

  1. Share a personal story. For example, sometimes I share about the time I questioned if data mattered.

  2. Talk about connecting job duties, decisions, and data. You can learn more in this piece I wrote and in this video I made.

  3. Ask the audience to spend 5–7 minutes brainstorming their job duties, decisions, and data.

  4. Inspire your audience by sharing how you’ll try these ideas in the coming week.

If you try this at your next talk or staff meeting, let me know how it went. If it's ok with you, I'd love to share reader experiences with this outline in a future email.
